Here are 5 reasons in no particular order of importance to increase your water intake TODAY!

Splash

1) Aids in weight loss

The number one advice I give to people trying to lose weight is to increase the amount of water they take daily. Our bodies cannot differentiate the difference between hunger and thirst, so we very often eat instead of drink when we're actually thirsty. The next time you feel hungry try drinking water and give it 30 minutes. If you were thirsty the feeling of hunger disappears. So if you, yes you, increase your water intake and stay hydrated the chances of the false hunger alarm going off are reduced and you'll only feel hungry when you're actually hungry.

2) Get Energized

If you ever feel exhausted in the middle of the day for no apparent reason, try taking a couple of glasses of water and see if it doesn't make a difference. One of the first signs of dehydration is feeling tired so drink up and stay energized.

3) Maintain the Balance of Bodily Fluids

Drinking enough water maintains the balance of body fluids which help in maintaining body temperature, the transportaion of nutrients in the body, digestion amongst other functions. (Our bodies are mostly water, after all).

4) Keep Your Skin Radiant

H2O helps in clearing toxins from our skin that can cause clogged pores and acne. Dehydration also makes skin look dry and wrinkled. So stay hydrated and reduce the possibility of skin complaints and keep your skin healthy and radiant.

5) Keep Your Bowels Moving

There is nothing that gets me more excited than smooth bowel movement. Okay, that might be a bit of a stretch but I love it when my digestive system in in check and dehydration can really put it out of whack. When we're dehydrated the colon pulls water from our stools in efforts to maintain hydration. This proces can result in constipation. So for the purpose of a smoothly flowling gastointestinal tract, DRINK UP!
