Travel Time: My Weekend Getaway

Life is too short to not be spontaneous. Last weekend, on Sunday at 3 pm after spending the entire afternoon binge watching Empire, hubby said to me: let’s go to Kilifi. My mind thought NO WAY but my mouth said HELL YA, so 30 minutes later we were out the door beginning our hitchhike to Kilifi.

Kilifi is a beautiful small coastal town an hour and a half away from where we stay. Because of the nature of our trip no luxuries were spared. We set up camp at Distant Relatives Backpackers, the tent was borrowed (naturally) and our beddings consisted of a single bed sheet- THAT’S IT! But with that being said, I felt amazing the morning after sleeping on the earth, I highly recommend it to anyone.

Two days and a night away from civilization, no shoes, no bras, no beds, good company, beautiful night skies and coastline was exactly what we needed.

We came back home rejuvenated and inspired to take up bush life very soon! We're already planning a follow up trip.
